Studio Isla was established in 2018 by Isla Christie.

Isla graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017. She makes use of digital tools to explore the infinite possibilities of geometric forms, and is captivated by the myriad ways in which these forms can be constructed, deconstructed and reimagined.

Jewellery

Working in silver and paper, Isla has developed a method of digitally 'slicing' 3D CAD models into layers; she then rebuilds the CAD models into items of jewellery made from layers of paper. Her collection of paper pins and earrings features playful geometric forms constructed from resilient waterproof paper and silver. Many of her shapes and forms are inspired by the graphical icons of the computer tools used in her design process, and by the infinite outcomes of 'playing with shapes' in a digital environment.

Homeware

Isla has recently launched a new range of homeware pieces alongside her jewellery range. Working in Jesmonite, she creates upscaled versions of her jewellery designs and gives them a new function as decorative homeware objects.
