Studio Isla was established in 2018 by Isla Christie.
Isla graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017. She makes use of digital tools to explore the infinite possibilities of geometric forms, and is captivated by the myriad ways in which these forms can be constructed, deconstructed and reimagined.
Working in silver and paper, Isla has developed a method of digitally 'slicing' 3D CAD models into several layers, before reconstructing her models using layers of paper. Her collection of paper pins and earrings features playful geometric forms constructed from resilient waterproof paper and silver. Many of her shapes and forms are inspired by the graphical icons of the computer tools used in her design process.
Isla has recently launched a new range of graphic inspired silver pieces alongside her paper range. Featuring lines, symbols and squiggles, this range is inspired by Isla's digital sketches and the infinite outcomes of 'playing' in a digital environment.
Isla currently works from her home studio, just outside Glasgow.
